Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Snuggle and Cuddle

Duncan exhibited a large amount of trust in me yesterday. He decided to steal my seat in the living room once more, and I again picked him up and put him down on my lap. This time he stayed and let me pet him while I watched TV for about half an hour! And actually, I initiated getting up not him. I would have liked to have stayed there longer, but had some things to do. I'll make a lap dog out of him yet! Now if I could just get him to jump up onto my lap by himself.

He is sliding backwards a little on coming back into the house when I call him in. He actually came in with me holding the door open one night this weekend. He's digressed a bit since then, and we went an hour of offering and refusing again last night. We'll keep working on it!

This morning Duncan jumped out of bed to get a drink of water, and when he came back, he laid down with his head next to mine on the pillow. I think he's gonna be a snuggler.
