Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

The Last Survivor!

It is coming up on two years since I became a Sheltie parent on February 2, 2007, and I have just received some incredible news from one of the fosters at LL Dog Rescue! The puppy mill that Duncan was rescued from HAS CLOSED!!! That's right, they are closing shop and going OUT OF BUSINESS!!! This may be due to the economy. I don't know for sure, but it really doesn't matter. They are closed!

The last Sheltie has been placed with LL (but not before she was dumped at a kill shelter.) Her name is Celie. The last survivor! Isn't she adorable! But alas, Celie is in serious need of medical care. She has a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) a shunt vessel by her heart that didn't close like it was supposed to after she was born. Please visit LL's "Help Celie" page to see more pictures of her, and to make a donation towards the expense of her surgery if you are able. Every little bit counts! Prayers are appreciate if you are unable to contribute financially!

If you remember from previous posts, my Duncan was taken to the Vet to be euthanized when this mill was finished breeding him after 8 years. Fortunately the Vet asked if he could send Dunkie to a rescue group instead! (Bless that Vet, wherever he or she is!) The following are the names of all the Shelties that LL Dog Rescue has rescued from this puppy mill over the years. And Celie is the last! What a great Christmas present!!
