Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Debbie's Debut

Debbie has made her debut on Sheltie Nation! She's so cute!

Debbie has started some serious playing with me. She likes to play crouch and chase with me. She'll crouch down and bound away as I chase after her. Then I'll crouch down and run away as she chases after me. It's so cute! Duncan seems to be coming closer to watch us and is definitely interested in what we are doing. Last night when I got home from work I took Debbie out in the back yard and walked up the hill with her. We played chase a little bit, and then as I walked back down the hill, she decided she needed to herd me down the hill - bounding from side to side behind me. It was so wonderful to see! Perhaps we'll have to see about trying her out with some herding. I'll have to check into if there are any local herding clubs. I'm sure there are. Start her out with some ducks maybe. She definitely has a stronger herding instinct than Duncan does. Of course, she is quite a bit younger than he is too. (Although Duncan definitely does not act like he's 9 years old.) Watching Debbie and I definitely seems to be having a good affect on him though. They are both doing so well!

Debbie sounds like she will be a great influence on Duncan, I bet in time, he will join in the fun as he learns how to be a dog again. You have two very lucky dogs there to have such a special mom!
