Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Goodbye Marigold

Marigold passed away on Thursday morning August 2nd. She had not eaten or drank in several days and so was telling her foster parents that it was time. It is a blessing though that she was able to have even a small amount of time away from the puppy mill experiencing some semblance of a normal life.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to adopt two healthy shelties. So many more do not come to as good of an end. Although Mariold was only able to experience a short time outside of the puppy mill life, there are many more mill dogs who are just euthanized or worse when they are no longer useful to their owners.

Thanks to Mariold's foster parents (who were also Duncan's foster parents) for giving Marigold the best to be given, and for keeping her from suffering when it was time to let her go.
