Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

More Travel

I have been out of town on business for two weeks. I got in last night at about 10:00 pm. Duncan and Debbie have been staying with their foster parents while I was gone and I go to pick them this afternoon. I can't wait. I have missed them so much!

It sounds like they both did pretty well. Duncan continued to come in the house from the back yard for Glenn very well. He played with Merlin, our recent "Featured Adoptable" and generally just hung out. He didn't get as much attention as he would have if he were home, but he seemed ok with that.

Debbie had a little more excitement. She love to run and play in the back yard after going potty, and one day was being pretty frisky, and lit right into the small garden pond that Barbra has. Barbra said that Debbie got out and looked at her like "What did you do that for?" as if Barbra had thrown her in. I don't know if she's ever seen any form of a body of water, and I don't think she realized you couldn't walk on it. Too funny.

Debbie's also been exposed to what has been deemed "Snot Nose Syndrome" or SNS. It's an upper respiratory infection, but it's not kennel cough. She's showing some initial mild signs of it, sneezing and what not. She'll be on antibiotics and we'll keep an eye on her.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see the kid's reactions to me when I pick them up this afternoon after being gone so long. Especially Duncan who doesn't seek out attention, but gets it from me anyway. Debbie just loves Barbra and shows more excitement when she sees her than she does me! That's normal for a rescue dog though. They often bond very strongly with the first person who keeps them for a time after rescue. But I know she was happy and content while I was away. I'm waiting impatiently for it to be time to pick them up!

Tatha,
Your Little Debbie is a TRIP! The look of recognition on her face when she saw you was priceless. She just had to get to you to greet you. I would definitely say she missed you! She is such an expressive little girl. She had fun with Kasey Jones, but seemed glad to be back in your care. She is such a lover.
Take Care,
Barbra
