Welcome to Winning Duncan Over!
You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy
mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story
however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy
mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like
to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with
February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting
Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!
Going to Camelot
I'm a little nervous. I just made Duncan's first grooming appointment. He really needs a bath and some neatening up, so he has an appointment with Brenda (also an LL Dog Rescue Foster Mom) at Camelot Court Animal Clinic for Tuesday. He is doing a little better with letting me brush him with the pin brush. He still does not like me to brush the feathering on his legs, and his belly is mostly off limits too. He still snaps when I try to brush these areas. He does let me lift his chin and brush his neck and chest without problems though; and his tail, which is normally more tangled than the rest of him, is usually allowed too. But I'm not sure how he will handle me dropping him off in the morning and leaving him. He is also still very skittish about letting me pick him up and still snaps at me when I do that too. I'm not sure how he'll handle a bath. And then of course, he needs his nails trimmed as well, and we all know how that ended the last time his nails were cut... I am afraid that this will be a tragic experience for him, as he will be in a strange place, and having things done to him that he doesn't like. But, I am hoping that his history of surprising me and handling new things very well will continue.
