Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Tristan

Tristan is also an alumni of our rescue group!

Shirlee, St. Joseph, MO.

This is Tristan (aka "T"). He came to rescue in February of 2007 from a shelter in Wichita where he’d overstayed his welcome. He fostered with Rodney & his family. T picked me at a Petco adoption event in March of 2007. T was just barely a year old (still chewing and play biting), weighed a lean 29 pounds and stood 2 inches taller than the "breed standard". Just perfect! He knew that I needed him and not some little dog.

Tristan now weighs about 37 pounds. I should mention that while he was gaining weight I lost 10 pounds due to all of our walking and have pretty much kept it off? You think twice about what you snack on when you know you have to share it with the dog! Shelties are just perfect little fitness programs.

Tristan knows he's big and is a serious dog boy with little patience for excessive petting and snuggling. Don't take that to mean that he isn't affectionate. He follows me everywhere and would spend every waking moment at my side if he had his way. T loves our car rides, is eager to learn new tricks, to hike new trails, and boy does he ever love his cookies. Will Work for Cookies is his motto. Next to doggie day care, his favorite place to visit is the Quick Lane oil & lube place. He’s definitely all boy, even if everyone does call him "Lassie".

In the picture T is enjoying a nap with his favorite squeaky toy. I cannot help but smile whenever he takes off running around the house making squeaky noises. Well, gotta go walk the dog.

Love the squeekey Shirlee!
