Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Tails of Camelot

Well, in some ways Duncan did about how I expected him to, and in others he did pretty well at the groomers. He was fine when I dropped him off and left him there. Brenda said he was pretty frightened for the first part where she brushed his undercoat out. He would spin away from her and kept trying to jump off the table. After she brushed him out she put him back in his cage to rest for awhile and calm down. Then she said he did much better from then on when she gave him his bath and used the air dryer on him. Surprisingly he was not at all frighted by or afraid of the air dryer. I thought certain this noise would bother him, but I guess not. He did not like his feet being messed with, but she got his paws trimmed nicely and his toenails clipped. His trimmed paws are just so adorable! He seemed to be disconcerted with the scissors coming towards him. My poor Duncan. Sometimes I wonder what they did to him in the mill, and other times I'm thankful that I do not know. But, he's all primped and coiffed now, more beautiful than he was to begin with. And I'm sure he's much more comfortable with his undercoat removed. Pretty Duncan!

Something I forgot to inlcude. Brenda and I were looking at Duncan when I was picking him up, and she noticed that the whiskers on the right side of his muzzle are white, and the whiskers on the left side of his muzzle are black! Funny Duncan!
