Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Meet Kasey JOOOOOOnes!

Barbra is also a foster Mom for Kansas City Sheltie Rescue and coudln't help adopting one of her fosters! (Well, more than one as you will see.)

Barbra, Kansas City, Kansas
Kasey JOOOOOOnes 2 year old Male

Kasey came into rescue at 5 months old. He had a deep hole in his abdomen. Apparently his mother must have munched it during birth. After a specialized surgery, he is all fixed. Kasey hops around the yard, earning the nick name of "Jack Rabbit". As he grew and became more confident, he became known as, "Little Man". Well, full grown, he is very small at 12 lbs. and 2 yrs. old. You can see his confidence as he stands at alert, just waiting for the next thing in life to happen. Kasey actually thinks he "rules the roost"! To him "Little Man" means "BIG Man," since he is only as small as the largest dog in the house (usually 32 lbs. or more)-----at least in his own mind!
Nap times are the only times he is not on the go! You can almost say these are the times he is on his best behavior. :) The boy is just too smart for his own good. Kasey frequently creates havoc and mischief. If not for his puppy mill background he would have been the most perfect agility dog. Small, fast, able to "leap tall buildings with a single bound" and "turn on a dime and leave nine cents change"! These are skills he loves to show off in the comfort and safety of his home and yard as he entertains the familiar crowd.

Love the little tongue during his nap Barbra!

Hey, Tatha,
I guess I should have bobby-pinned those ears down!!!! :) Forgot to mention that his color is known as a Sable Merle, like Debbie. Sable/White, with Blue Merle. You can certainly see the sliver gray in his hair.
