Welcome to Winning Duncan Over! You will find in these pages the story of a Shetland Sheep dog who spent 8 years as a puppy mill stud dog before being rescued. Duncan's rescue is only the beginning of the story however. A great deal of time, work, love and patience is needed to turn an abused puppy mill dog into a happy and healthy pet, and that is the story told here. If you would like to read Duncan's full story I recommend that you start in the Archives at the left with February 2007 - when it all began for me, Duncan's guardian. Thank you for visiting Duncan's site, and please tell a friend!

Montana

Like I said, Barbra adopted more than one of her fosters!

Montana Rain II, 6 year old Bi-black Sheltie

Montana Rain II was born in Montana and found himself in a shelter before he was a year old. Probably too much Sheltie for the person who purchased him from the breeder. He has always been a very high energy Sheltie. Montana was adopted and shipped to Overland Park. Oh, the dear boy didn't have a fenced yard and proved too much for the older couple who adopted him. He was my first foster. Okay, YES, I am a failed foster since I adopted him. His paperwork had his name as Rain II. I figure he was the second one born on a rainy night. Montana is the most amazing Frisbee dog. We completed obedience training and he earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen title. Montana is very athletic so he gave agility a shot. He was never motivated by treats so toys were his reward at the end of a run.
Montana enjoys outings like Dogtoberfest and is a great sport in his Peppe LaPue costume. His Sheltie colors are known as bi-black. He is just black and white, so he was perfect for the costume. Looks real doesn't it? People actually asked if he was marked that way. We had to smile.
Montana loves the lake and to run the water's edge chasing the waves, so he is our "wave runner". He can do this for hours. He is also my Seadoo buddy. We love to tootle around the shore line checking out the scenery and just looking cute.
Montana is small and six now. He does love his toys and carries one where ever he goes. He is living the good life.
